New Health Care Policies To Expect Under a New Administration
You may be wondering how or if your health insurance coverage could be changed under a new presidency. While no one knows yet for sure what lies ahead you can definitely expect new healthcare policies under the new administration.
Coming inauguration day January 20, 2021 the Federal government is expected to be much more involved in public healthcare and the Covid -19 response.
What we know based on what Biden has pledged during his campaign is that he does want to invest in the changes the Affordable Care Act has made in the health care system. He would like to put Trillions into a covid-19 strategy, and he would like to create a “public option” referring to a Medicare-like public insurance plan that anyone can buy into.
If congress fail to make a deal with President Elect Biden by next spring, together they would have to work very quickly to come up with a new way to address the possibility to tens of millions of Americans becoming uninsured during a pandemic.
It is also known that Biden would like to expand eligibility for coverage such as Medicare and Medicaid. Medicare for instance he would like to lower the minimum age to 60 instead of 65.
All changes will likely take time and must be passed through the senate which could also bring things to a stand still depending on the senate majority. Either way don’t expect any major changes until at least Spring 2021.
